Our story

Enterprise expertise.
Sussex values.

James started his IT career supporting Sussex businesses. He spent the next decade working at the highest levels of enterprise cybersecurity - including Microsoft, where he worked on the cybersecurity engineering team - before founding Eder IT to bring that expertise back to where it matters most.

Our background

Big-company experience. Local team. Sussex prices.

James spent eight years at Sussex MSPs before moving into enterprise cybersecurity - first at the British Medical Association, then as Cloud Architect at INTO University Partnerships in Brighton.

From 2019 he joined Microsoft's FastTrack programme as a cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert, advising organisations of 50 to 100,000+ users on how to stay secure. In 2021 he joined Microsoft's engineering team - as Senior Product Manager on one of Microsoft's flagship cybersecurity platforms, used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

He served as Senior Cybersecurity Architect at a top British bank until 2025, then left to focus on Eder IT full time - bringing that expertise back to the Sussex businesses he started out serving.

“Most IT providers for small businesses don't really understand cybersecurity at depth. That's the thing that actually stops breaches. It's where I've spent the last decade of my career - and now I'm putting it to work for Sussex businesses.”

How we got here
1
2008–2016

Sussex roots

James spent eight years at Sussex MSPs - HSC IT, Extech, and five years as a Senior Technical Consultant at Trident Professional IT Services - learning what IT problems actually look like for growing businesses, and how to fix them quickly.

2016–2022

Enterprise cybersecurity

He moved into enterprise cloud and cybersecurity: Microsoft Cloud Consultant at the British Medical Association, then Cloud Architect at INTO University Partnerships in Brighton. From 2019, he joined Microsoft's FastTrack programme as a cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert, advising organisations of 50 to 100,000+ users on how to stay secure. In 2021 he joined Microsoft's engineering team directly - working as Senior Product Manager on one of Microsoft's flagship cybersecurity platforms, used by hundreds of millions of businesses worldwide.

2022–2025

Top of the industry.

James served as Senior Cybersecurity Architect in the Chief Technology Office of a top British bank - responsible for how the bank protects its systems and people at scale.

2026

Back where it started.

James left the bank to focus on Eder IT full time. He'd spent years helping enormous organisations get their security right - and he wanted to bring that same thinking to Sussex businesses who deserve it just as much.

What we stand for

Our values aren't a wall poster.

These aren't things we say we believe. They're the things that shape how we behave - every day, with every client.

01

Honesty, always

If we can't help you, we'll say so. If there's a cheaper option that suits you better, we'll tell you. We'd rather lose a sale than lose your trust.

02

We prevent, not just fix

We keep a constant eye on your systems and sort problems before they affect your day. Most of the time you won't even know anything happened.

03

People over processes

You'll never be a ticket number here. When you call, you speak to someone who knows your business. When you email, you get a real reply.

04

We think ahead for you

We don't just keep things ticking over - we think about where your business is heading and make sure your IT is ready for it. No nasty surprises down the line.

05

Local and present

We're Sussex-based and Sussex-focused. We know the local business community, we can be onsite quickly, and we care about the county we call home.

06

No jargon, ever

IT can be complex, but explaining it doesn't have to be. We communicate clearly, in plain English, so you always know what's happening and why.

Where we work

Rooted in Sussex.
Ready across the county.

We're Sussex through and through. Our clients span the county, and being genuinely local means we can be onsite quickly when you need us - not calling from a remote helpdesk three counties away.
